Geboorte is een normaal fysiologisch gebeuren maar voor een kleine % pasgeborenen gaat
geboorte en postnatale periode gepaard met hoog risico op mobiliteit en mortaliteit.
Omgekeerd kunnen de intra-uteriene en perinatale problemen blijvende gevolgen hebben
op kwaliteit van overleving.

PML = post menstruele leeftijd of zwangerschapsduur
Op tijd geboren = a term = PML 37 tot 41 weken
Te vroeg = premature/ preterme geboorte: <37 weken PML
Te laat = postterme geboorte: > 422 weken PML

Normaal gewicht:
Meisje: 3,3kg
Jongen 3,6kg
- Biometrische gegevens worden uitgezet op groeicurven P50 = gemiddeld
- AGA = appropriate for gestational age = normaal gewicht voor zwangerschapsduur =
