The Project Engineering Toolkit is an original Excel-based planning and project-controls resource for students, early-career engineers, project coordinators, and technical teams. It includes three editable worksheets: a Project Planning Dashboard, a Risk Register, and an Earned Value Tracker. The toolkit is designed to support core project-engineering activities such as organizing work packages, tracking dates and dependencies, assigning ownership, monitoring risks, and evaluating cost and schedule performance. The Project Planning Dashboard provides columns for WBS or work-package names, owners, start and finish dates, duration, dependencies, and status notes. Built-in formulas automatically calculate duration in days once start and finish dates are entered. This sheet can be used to turn a deliverable-based WBS into a simple working plan, monitor schedule commitments, identify dependencies, and keep project status information current. The Risk Register gives users a structured format for documenting risks and causes, potential effects, likelihood, impact, response actions, owners, and triggers or due dates. Its built-in scoring formula multiplies likelihood and impact ratings to help users prioritize risks consistently. This makes the template useful for identifying uncertainty early, assigning accountability for response actions, and tracking the events or conditions that signal a risk may require action. The Earned Value Tracker supports basic earned value management across 12 reporting periods. Users enter Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV), and Actual Cost (AC), while formulas automatically calculate Cost Variance (CV), Schedule Variance (SV), Cost Performance Index (CPI), and Schedule Performance Index (SPI). It is useful for practicing project-controls calculations and identifying whether work is progressing behind plan or at unfavorable cost efficiency. This is an original independent study and planning resource for general use in project engineering, engineering management, operations planning, technical project coordination, and capstone work. It is not official university, instructor, certification, or course material and does not include instructor-provided assignments, assessments, slides, or proprietary examples.
