Abstract
Advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) and medical staff are experiencing stress
and job-related burnout at an overwhelming rate. The evidence-based research article written by
Klein et al. (2020) delves deep into components that dictate burnout and the prevalence of it
among APRNs. A structural equation model was used including over 1,000 surveyed individuals
who answered questionnaires with independent and dependent variables factored in, to exemplify
the pervasiveness of exhaustion amongst APRNs. The findings indicated that a large majority of
APRNs are feeling broken down and the medical institutions in which they work must address
this issue as there is already a shortage of APRNs (Klein et al., 2020).
