P-N Junction Diode & Biasing Notes
Comprehensive Study Guide: Forward Bias vs. Reverse Bias
Introduction to P-N Junction Diode & Biasing
A P-N junction diode ek semiconductor device hai jo current ko ek direction me allow karta hai aur dusri
direction me block karta hai.
• Biasing ka matlab hota hai diode par external battery voltage apply karna taaki yeh decide ho sake ki
current flow karega ya nahi.
• Biasing ke do main types hote hain: Forward Bias aur Reverse Bias.
1. Forward Biased Diode
Jab diode ko is tarah connect kiya jaye ki wo current ko easily pass hone de, toh use forward bias kehte
hain.
• Connection: Isme P-type region ko battery ke positive terminal se aur N-type region ko negative
terminal se connect kiya jata hai.
• Working Mechanism:
◦ Battery ka positive terminal P-side ke holes ko push karta hai aur negative terminal N-side ke
electrons ko push karta hai.
◦ Isse dono charge carriers junction ki taraf move karte hain, jiski wajah se depletion region patli
(narrow) ho jati hai.
◦ Jab external voltage barrier potential (jaise Silicon ke liye 0.7 ext{ V}) se zyada ho jata hai, toh
diode me se aasaani se current flow hone lagta hai.
• Key Points:
◦ Yeh low resistance offer karta hai (closed switch ki tarah kaam karta hai).
◦ Isme high electric current flow hota hai.
