, PLEASE USE THIS DOCUMENT AS A GUIDE TO ANSWER YOUR ASSIGNMENTS
Introduction
My aim in compiling this portfolio was to reflect on the things that have struck me throughout this
crazy module.
My starting point for doing this was to revisit my opinions to the multiple choice questions which
were presented in the Crossroads assignment. I present these current opinions, together with my
original opinions, and some brief notes in the section entitled: “Back at the Crossroads!”
Once I have done this, I will reflect on the entire learning process and draw some key conclusions
about this crazy module and about the things that really struck me.
Back at the Crossroads!
1. “ProPublica leaked IRS documents showing that in 2011, Jeff Bezos did not pay any tax.”
My personal opinion on this statement is most closely described by:
a. Taxation is basically government stealing from people so good for Bezos
b. I’m sure he didn’t break the law.
c. Wait, wasn’t he the richest man in the world in 2011?
d. What about other billionaires I wonder?
e. This is just gross injustice, and we need to do something about it.
Choice now: e
Choice in assignment 1: e
Notes:
The fact that the richest person in the world paid zero federal income tax in a given year while
ordinary workers pay every month shows how the system is tilted. Legal tax avoidance on that scale
is still a moral failure. Societies need fairer rules so extreme wealth does not sit outside the tax net
that funds public services.
2. “The water used by artificial intelligence is expected to equal the needs of 1.3 billion people by
2030” (Shah, 2026).
My personal opinion on this statement is most closely described by:
a. So what? It rains doesn’t it?
b. I’m sure they will build the necessary infrastructure so that people will not be affected.
c. You can be pretty sure that they will not build sufficient water supply infrastructure to provide
this.
d. This is probably why they are moving data centres to developing countries – make it a problem
for poor people.
e. So, when I use AI to answer my SUS1501 assignments, I’m contributing to a global water crisis?
