Craig Harris is a 78-year-old male nursing home resident who presents with hesitancy in
starting urinary stream, decreased force of the urinary stream, post-void dribbling,
nocturia, and left lower quadrant (LLQ) abdominal pain for the past two weeks. The pain
is dull, rated 3/10 when sitting and 8/10 when voiding or trying to defecate. Pain feels
better when lying down. He does not feel like he empties his bladder with each
urination. He also has problems with constipation; his last BM was one week ago on
Monday night and was a normal bowel movement. The caregiver who brought him is
asking if it would be all right to prescribe MiraLAX® to help relieve the constipation.
