Globe
A globe is a 3d model of the Earth. It represents how the Earth looks in a 3d model. It is the best tool
to understand how the Earth looks like. It shows different places on the Earth, mainly countries and
their capitals. It is a heavy object and is non-portable
Map
A map is a drawing of the Earth surface. In olden times people used maps to travel and sail around

component of a map. This helps us understand how big places on the map are in real life. For
example, 1cm = 1km would mean that one centimeter on the map would be one kilometer
on the map. The scale can also be shown like, 1;100,000 this would mean that 1cm on the
map is 100,000 cm in real life.
Latitudes
Latitudes are imaginary lines that run across the Earth. They run sideways like Notebook
lines. They end at the North and South poles. They help in determining the Heat Zones of the
Earth. There are 180 lines of latitude. The main lines of latitude are the Equator, Tropic of
Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Arctic Circle and the Antarctic Circle.
Longitudes
Also known as meridians they are imaginary lines that run up and down the Earths surface.
There are 360 lines of longitude. They help in determining time zones. The main lines are the
Prime Meridian and the International Date Line.
