, Instructions and scope
Choose one best answer for each question. Use the conversion factors supplied in each problem; do not
substitute a different household approximation. Mixed numbers such as 2 3/4 mean 2 + 3/4. A slash
indicates a fraction, x indicates multiplication, and squared means raised to the power 2.
Allow about 75 minutes for a first attempt if you want timed practice. This is a workbook pacing suggestion,
not an official exam time limit. Follow your testing center's rules on calculators, scratch paper, timing, and the
sections required by your program.
The six practice groups have 10 questions each. These are editorial study groupings, not an official
percentage blueprint. Math is included in the publisher's HESI admission review; specific institutional
requirements vary. Geometry, time, and integer exercises here provide supporting numeracy practice and
are not a guarantee of live exam content.
Record your answers before looking at the solutions. Give one point per correct answer. Recalculate missed
problems using the method shown, and explain why your chosen answer was wrong.
Score guide
54-60: Strong on this set; check performance with fresh problems.
48-53: Meets this workbook's 80% study target; focus on weak topics.
42-47: Developing accuracy; review repeated error types before retesting.
0-41: Rebuild core arithmetic and unit skills, then attempt a fresh set.
These bands are not official HESI performance levels. Repeating familiar questions can raise scores through memory, so use fresh
examples to assess lasting understanding.
