Why do you want to be a lifeguard?
I want to help people and create a safe environment for everyone using the pool. I've grown
up around swimming and my mum worked as a lifeguard, so I've understood from a young
age that the role is mainly about prevention, vigilance and responsibility, not just carrying out
rescues.
Why do you want to work here?

the responsibility involved. Joe also mentioned that you're a really great person to work for,
and I visited the pool on Sunday during a family swim session and really enjoyed the
atmosphere.

The main responsibility is keeping people safe through effective supervision and prevention.

carrying out rescues and first aid when necessary, providing good customer service,
maintaining cleanliness and communicating effectively with the team.

accident happens. Being observant and intervening early can prevent someone from needing
a rescue in the first place.

An emergency can develop very quickly, so I need to remain alert and continuously observe
my area. I need to notice changes in people's behaviour, identify hazards and act before a
situation becomes serious.
What are your biggest strengths?
I'm good with people, reliable and flexible. Growing up in an international school taught me

and maintain my fitness so I'm prepared to carry out a rescue if necessary.
What's one weakness or area you're working on?
Sometimes I can put a lot of pressure on myself to get things right, but I've learned to manage
that by preparing thoroughly and asking for guidance when I need it rather than trying to do
everything myself.
Tell me about a time you had to stay calm under pressure.
When I fell into a lake unexpectedly, I had to stay calm and think quickly about how to get
safely to the side rather than panic. It taught me the importance of staying calm and making
clear decisions when something unexpected happens.

During my IB Theatre performance, we each developed different scenes and had to
communicate, give each other feedback and adapt our ideas to create one cohesive
performance. It taught me that good teamwork requires communication, flexibility and being
willing to adapt.
Tell me about a time you took responsibility for something important.
Through my previous volunteering and work with children, I've had responsibilities where
other people were relying on me to be dependable and make sure things were done properly.
That has taught me to take responsibility seriously and not let other people down.
Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult person.
I've had experience communicating with people from many different backgrounds through
growing up in an international school and working with children. I've learned to stay patient,
listen properly and adapt how I communicate rather than reacting emotionally.
How would someone you've worked with describe you?
I think they would describe me as reliable, approachable, adaptable and good with people. I'd
hope they would also say that I'm someone they can trust to take responsibility.
How do you respond to criticism or feedback?
I listen to it and try not to take it personally. I'd rather know what I can improve so I can learn
from it and become better at my job.
