Mit Präfixen (Vorsilben) und Suffixen (Nachsilben) kannst du aus bekannten Wörtern neue Adjektive bilden. Präfixe
verändern meist die Bedeutung ins Gegenteil, Suffixe machen aus Nomen oder Verben neue Adjektive.

1. Präfixe – meist das Gegenteil
Je nachdem, mit welchem Buchstaben das Wort beginnt, wird ein passendes Präfix verwendet:

Präfix Regel Beispiele

un- allgemeines Gegenteil unimportant, unusual, unhappy, unclear, unfortunately

dis- allgemeines Gegenteil disconnected, dishonest, disloyal, dislikable, disbelievable

im- vor m, b, p impossible, impolite, impatient, impractical, impersonal

in- allgemeines Gegenteil inactive, intolerant, incapable, independent, incorrect

il- vor Wörtern mit l illegal, illogical

ir- vor Wörtern mit r irregular, irrational


MERKE Bei im-/il-/ir- entscheidet der Anfangsbuchstabe des Wortes über die richtige Form.



2. Suffixe – Adjektivbildung
Suffixe hängst du an Nomen oder Verben an, um daraus Adjektive zu bilden:

-able comfortable, understandable, predictable, enjoyable, repairable

-ible visible, flexible, possible, incredible, compatible

-ous dangerous, mountainous, nervous, famous, curious, cautious

-ful beautiful, useful, successful, helpful, respectful, careful

-less careless, endless, hopeless, helpless, speechless, useless

-ic historic, dramatic, athletic, artistic, academic, specific

-al cultural, natural, logical, historical, personal, national
