The Importance of Health Information Technology
Data sharing and patient care
Health information systems provide not only strategies to improve individual user groups
' roles and processes but also to change the interaction between healthcare professionals and
patients. Collaboration of physicians and patients also requires treatment which is highly and
complex across time, space and organization. This can pose a number of challenges for IT health
users, especially when patient information cannot easily be accessed or stored. IT becomes a
crucial instrument for the transformation of healthcare. Heath technology engineers promises to
help and identify the health needs of IT users for the optimal design of those technologies (Asan,
Carayon, 2017). Health information technology (HITs) is often considered as one of the answers.
Health information technology lowers medical errors, mortality rates, and creates a higher
financial performance. IT impacts have shown that IT (in general) can adjust output levels
directly, usually at aggregate level, to boost organizational efficiency. Telemedicine is a HIT
system involving a wide range of applications and telecommunications technology in terms of
technology. Such programs are implemented in a wide range of medical and specialist
environments, including cardiology, dermatology, neurology, ophthalmology, and radiology
(Yeow, Huat Goh, 2015). The use of electronic medical records (EMRs), to help keep savings, is
the basis of many changes in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). They use
data from MarketScan ® reports and IT data from the U.S. Hospitalet Association to analyze
how EMRs can be costly in the ACA's patient safety reforms.
