Responsibilities of the flotilla commander (FC)
Responsible for every aspect of the flotilla and its activities
Determines needs/goals for program delivery
Ensures compliance with Coast Guard and Auxiliary policies
Motivates, recognizes, and rewards performance
Promotes fellowship and member services
Maintains relationship with stakeholders
Leads, manages, and supports flotilla operations
Performs flotilla administration tasks
Eligibility requirements
Member of the Auxiliary and the flotilla for 1 year (except in very specific situations)
Completed APC or AFLC, ICS 100 and 700, mandated training
Favorable PSI in AUXDATA
Holds a qualification, served as an officer for 2 years, or have 25 hours in a program
Chain of leadership and management/parallel staffing
A chain of communication, NOT a chain of command. No rank involved.
Resolve problems at the lowest level
Answer and/or copy request promptly and properly
Avoid "jumping the chain"
DIRAUX
Director of the Auxiliary at the division level. Has many jobs and functions as a higher-level
commander than the flotilla commander. Next step in the chain from that officer.
