CHRONOLOGICAL SUMMARY • AFRIKAANS + ENGLISH
● Abby voel gefrustreerd omdat juffrou Makou haar saam met Jasper en Henri vir ’n projek ingedeel het.
Hulle woon almal in dieselfde sekuriteitskompleks, maar hulle persoonlikhede is baie verskillend.
(Abby is frustrated because Mrs Makou placed her with Jasper and Henri for a project. They all live in
the same security complex, but their personalities are very different.)
● Sy sien haarself as Aarde omdat sy realisties en prakties is. Jasper is soos Mars – energiek en impulsief
– en Henri is soos Venus, dramaties en kreatief.
(She sees herself as Earth because she is realistic and practical. Jasper is like Mars – energetic and
impulsive – and Henri is like Venus, dramatic and creative.)
● Hulle stap na Abby se huis waar daar genoeg ruimte in die motorhuis is om aan hul
Halloween-stalletjieprojek te werk.
(They walk to Abby’s house where there is enough space in the garage to work on their Halloween
stall project.)
● Abby vertel dat haar pa weg is en sy gereedskap saamgeneem het. Haar ma bestuur ’n
troeteldierversorgingsbesigheid genaamd Pet’s Pamper.
(Abby explains that her father has left and taken his tools with him. Her mother runs a pet-grooming

● Die roomyswa, Ice Ice, Baby, kom by die straat aan. Abby besluit om vir die groep roomys te koop.
(The ice-cream truck, Ice Ice, Baby, arrives in the street. Abby decides to buy ice cream for the group.)
● Die skoolhoof, Adrianus Vos ("Jakkals"), praat heftig met die roomysman, Izzie.
(The principal, Adrianus Vos ("Jackal"), is arguing with the ice-cream seller, Izzie.)
● Die roomysman probeer met Adrianus redeneer en stap terug met sy hande in die lug.
(The ice-cream seller tries to reason with Adrianus and backs away with his hands raised.)
● Adrianus Vos trek ’n pistool uit en skiet Izzie drie keer. Die roomysman val op die grond en bloei erg.
(Adrianus Vos pulls out a pistol and shoots Izzie three times. The ice-cream seller falls to the ground
and bleeds heavily.)

(After shooting, he looks up and sees the three teenagers.)
● Adrianus mik sy pistool na hulle, en Henri skree dat hulle moet hardloop.
(Adrianus points his gun at them, and Henri shouts that they must run.)
● Hulle hardloop weg, spring oor mure en probeer ontsnap terwyl skote agter hulle afgevuur word.
(They run away, jump over walls, and try to escape while shots are fired after them.)
● Hulle klim in ’n ou boomhuis op ’n verlate erf en trek die leer op om hulself weg te steek.
(They climb into an old treehouse on an abandoned property and pull up the ladder to hide.)
● Adrianus beweeg deur die erf met sy pistool gereed en soek na die drie kinders.
(Adrianus moves through the property with his pistol ready and searches for the three children.)
● Johannes, ’n lid van die buurtwag, stop met sy bakkie nadat hy die skote gehoor het.
(Johannes, a member of the neighbourhood watch, stops with his pickup truck after hearing the
gunshots.)
● Adrianus vertel vir Johannes dat drie skoolkinders die roomysman geskiet het en gevlug het.
(Adrianus tells Johannes that three schoolchildren shot the ice-cream seller and fled.)
● Johannes herken hulle van buurtwaglyste en Adrianus noem hulle name: • Abby Mynhardt • Jasper

(Johannes recognises them from neighbourhood-watch lists and Adrianus gives their names.)
