1.1 Explain in one paragraph what multimodal communication means.

Multimodal communication means using many different ways to share a message. We
do not only use words when we talk to someone. We also use our faces, hands, bodies,
pictures, and actions to help others understand us. For example, a teacher can tell a
story and also act it out, make funny faces, and draw pictures on the board. This helps
young children learn better because they use their eyes and ears at the same time
(ENC1501 Study Guide, LU 1.9). In the Foundation Phase, this way of teaching works
very well because children understand more when they can see and hear the message
together.
