A. Describe a learned behavior that is an example of classical conditioning,
including how classical conditioning is demonstrated in your example.
 An example of classical conditioning is how a dog learns that a
leash means going outside. This is demonstrated by the leash
becoming associated with an automatic emotional or physical
response, rather than a deliberate behavior of choice.
Breaking down the steps of before, during, and after
conditioning, it goes like this: before the dog is conditioned;
going outside is an unconditioned stimulus, going outside
naturally causes excitement and happiness for the dog, the
unconditioned response is excitement ( tail wagging, jumping,
whining), this response is automatic, and not learned.
Furthermore, because the neutral stimulus is the leash itself, it
has no special meaning at the beginning. while the dog is
undergoing classical conditioning the leash is repeatedly being
paired with the dog going outside, leading the dog to form an
association between the leash and the outdoor experiences,
After the classical conditioning the leash is now a conditioned
stimulus with a conditioned response of excitement,
anticipation, tail wagging, etc. this is classical conditioning
due to response ( excitement) being automatic and reflexive,
not consciously chosen, the learning and conditioning
happened through association, not reward and punishment,
and the leash was a neutral stimulus becomes linked to a
naturally meaningful stimulus ( going outside). The dog is not
thinking, "If I do this, I will get to go outside." Instead, the
dog's body reacts automatically because the leash predicts
something pleasurable. ( Western Governors University, n.d)

B. Describe a learned behavior that is an example of operant conditioning as
it would be experienced, including how operant conditioning is demonstrated
in your example.
- A student learns to check their work carefully before submitting
assignments because doing so results in higher grades. Operant
conditioning occurs when a behavior a student previously
performed is learned from the consequences of prior behaviors. In
the above example, the behavior (check their work carefully)
increases because it leads to a desirable outcome (higher grades).
The student is actively choosing to perform the behavior based on
past consequences. (Western Governors University, n.d)
