WGU D078 CRAFTING CORPORATE POLICIES:
ALIGNING ETHICS WITH COMMUNITY|LATEST UPDATE
WITH COMPLETE SOLUTIONS

A. Create three corporate policies that reflect the organization’s culture and ethical
viewpoints.

The first policy for TechFite should be that they will reallocate money being paid to executives in the
form of bonuses to employees to be full time and receive company benefits.

The next policy for TechFite will be that they will make good on their promise of rebuilding the
bankrupt city. To do this, TechFite will develop and initiate environmentally responsible techniques..

The final policy for TechFite is to introduce a youth leadership development program, in addition to,
sponsoring other community events.

1. Explain the rationale behind the policies, including how they align with the
organization’s culture.

With TechFite reallocating this money, TechFite’s employees will become more
empowered and will subsequently be more engaged in their work. This increase in engagement will
make workplace collaboration increase as well, making it a better place to work and a more
productive company as a whole. This policy will also help TechFite develop better corporate ethical
responsibility.

TechFite needs to show the community of Dellburg that it is a corporation that is good for the
community. They also need to prove this to their employees as well. So, by TechFite developing and
enacting environmentally responsible techniques with the purpose of helping the infrastructure of the
city, TechFite will be able to do just that.

In order to further demonstrate TechFite’s benefits and social responsibility towards the community
of Dellburg, TechFite will fulfill its promise of supporting local youth leadership programs and
sponsoring community events.

2. Distinguish between ethical and legal issues.

The main difference between ethics and legality is just that, legality. A corporation can be fully legal
in their business practices but still operate in an unethical manner. This is because ethics is a matter
of choosing between what is subjectively right and wrong. Whereas, legal issues require a court
decision as predetermined laws (rules) are involved.

3. Analyze the ethical issues at stake in the scenario (e.g., conflict of interest,
misuse of resources, whistleblowing).

The first ethical issue is that full time jobs and benefits were promised by TechFite to their
employees instead, however, that promised money is being paid to executives.

The second ethical issue is that promises to use environmentally responsible techniques to invest in
the city’s infrastructure were made, but have not been fulfilled.
