A.
A career goal that I have in mind is to be a school psychologist. This relates to my
degree plan as I study psychology because I will need to further my education to a
Masters or Doctoral. Getting a B.S in psychology is fundamental to understanding
human behavior, which is very important to have as a school psychologist as I would be
working with many different people including students and teachers while helping them
emotionally and academically.
B.
For being a school psychologist, the two most relevant professional skills that are
essential to success in the field are having great communication and problem-solving
skills. Having great communication skills are a key part to being a school psychologist
as they need to have effective communication between students, teachers, parents,
etc., while talking about data and plans for the next step for success to help support the
student (Pulse and Sims, 2023). Being able to problem solve is one of the most
important skills to have as a school psychologist. Problem solving can be helpful in
many different situations like trying to figure out why a student is experiencing academic
challenges and finding a solution to help them (Pulse and Sims, 2023).
