1. The class I aspire to teach in the future will be a 2nd grade class. This being a
critical grade where students go from learning to read to reading to learn. I will be
teaching a group of 22 students within a classroom at a local city school in
Atlanta, GA. The content areas will be diverse and all subjects such as Math, S.S.,
Science, and English will be taught. Instructional activities will be:
● Interactive Storytelling: This activity is geared towards English and S.S.. I
will be reading a story and students will be asking questions and predict
outcomes while discussing events that have taking place. This specific
activity will influence active listening, participation, comprehension and
critical thinking.
● Hands on Experiments: This activity is more equipped for Science and
Math. Students are engaged by doing. Promoting interactive activities
allows students to grasp the understanding of scientific concepts and
groupthink. While students are engaging with each other in the group
setting with direct instruction at the beginning and scaffolding during the
activities that are taking place.
2. My role as a teacher is to create a warm, safe and open environment for rigorous
learning where the students will learn and grow together while providing structure
and routine, offering support and guidance with clear expectations and rules. The
following classroom management will be implemented to ensure a positive, safe
and productive learning environment:
● Establishing Rules and Expectations
● Positive Reinforcement
● Consequences
● Classroom Organization
● Communication with Parent and/or Legal Guardian
