• This learning outcome specifies the content of competencies required
to care for patients with psychosocial health need. It includes
prioritizing psychological needs, standards for psychosocial health
care services, psychosocial healthcare team, collaborative
approaches, effective communication in psychosocial health care,
critical thinking and Care for the care giver
, Definition of terms
• Mental health: This refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-
being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how
we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.
• Case Management: This is a collaborative process of assessment,
planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation and advocacy for
options and services to meet an individual’s and family’s comprehensive
health needs through communication and available resources to promote
patient safety, quality of care, and cost effective outcomes.
• Screening: This is the preliminary assessment of a client to ascertain his or
her fitness for health related or psychiatric therapy in general, a particular
treatment strategy,
