intimate partner violence (IPV) during pregnancy affecting Candice Conway, a 26-year-old

woman who is 24 weeks pregnant. The assessment identifies multiple concerns, including

delayed prenatal care, financial insecurity, food insecurity, tobacco and marijuana use, and

ongoing verbal, emotional, and financial abuse by her partner. These factors place both the

Evidence-Based practice recommends routine screening for intimate partner violence

during pregnancy using validated screening tools in a private, safe environment. The American

confidentiality.

Following identification of IPV, healthcare providers should develop an individualized safety

plan, coordinate referrals to domestic violence advocacy services, and connect patients with

community resources. Trauma-informed care focuses on building trust, empowering the patient,

and avoiding re-traumatization (Drexler & Quist-Nelson, 2022). Collaboration among obstetric

providers, nurses, social workers, behavioral health specialists, and community organizations

improves maternal safety and pregnancy outcomes (Miller et al., 2023).
