What I knew about the South African Apartheid was what I was told by different people and from what
the movie I watched about it. I know it was a dark time for black South African. Nelson Mandela was a
freedom fighter as well as Winnie Mandela his wife at the time. During the Apartheid, interracial
marriage banned, it was illegal. There was segregation and racism. Black people were not allowed to
vote, schools and universities were segregated. During that time if people opposed the current
government they were thrown in prison. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years and after his
release he went on to become the President a few years later.
