CHAPTER 1 – INTRODUCTION TO ARTICLES

What are Articles?
Articles are small but crucial determiners placed before nouns. They clarify whether we are referring to a specific person,
place, or thing, or to a general/non-specific one.

Formal Definition
An article is a word placed before a noun to show whether the noun is specific (particular) or non-specific (general).
Articles are known as Determiners because they determine or limit the meaning of nouns.

Category Articles Description & Examples

1. Indefinite Articles A / An Refers to any non-specific person, animal, place, or thing.
Example: "I bought a pen." (Any random pen)

2. Definite Article The Refers to a particular or already known person, place, or thing.
Example: "The pen on the table is mine." (A specific pen)

Why Are Articles Important?
Articles make sentences correct, clear, natural, and grammatically accurate.

A + Singular Countable Noun (Beginning with a CONSONANT Sound)
