Summary how to negotiate with a liar

The author (John, 2023) has noticed that people lie multiple times in a day. How can you
make sure you don’t get lied to. People lie to get the dominance in situations when they can.
There are five strategies how you can tackle the hurdle and where you make it more difficult
to get lie to. That can be done by; firstly encourage mirroring, secondly, asking direct
questions, thirdly, looking out for dodging, additionally, do not get carried away with privacy
and finally, by leakage of information.

Firstly, encourage mirroring the other person. If someone shares a sensitive piece of
information than the other person will try to give the same level of transparency. The author
(John, 2023) explains that people will lie more the strangers than to who they know.
Secondly, asking direct questions. People see themselves as honest human beings and
everybody has secrets to protect. That can be done by withholding information, but can be
detected by asking direct questions. 62% of the counterpart comes clean when being asked
about that information, because it makes them lack their power. But it can come fireback,
because 39% of the counterpart also lies about their given information. Thirdly, look out for
dodging, most people are more impressed by answering next to the question rather than
giving relevant information. Keep appointing to the core of information that you need until
you get it. Then you can continue to the next question. Additionally, when people work they
assure the other people surrounding them that they will keep your privacy. But strong
privacy protection like the code of practice can let the percentage of lying increase
horrendously. When speaking in a casual tone people will divulge sensitive information faster
than in a formal tone. You should maintain and protect the private information that you get,
but you can announce the information unless when they do not give you their consent.
Moreover, people leak their information. People do it all the time even without noticing. If
people tend to be mindlessly they will share the information that tends to be more laying
towards the truth. But if your counterpart does not leak information you can still encourage
that, by placing them in sensitive behaviours, they will feel inclined to leak. Finally, ask about
financial cues which are related to her claims.

People lie all the time, you should go against that by making them match your transparency,
asking them direct questions, make sure that they answer with the right information to your
question, maintain their confidentiality, let them leak their information and ask for financial
cues. These are the strategies that make it less easy to get lied to.
