, Course Materials
Custom Textbook (REQUIRED):
ACC 3202 - Accounting Information Systems and Data Analytics. This textbook is customized for
Baruch and combines selected chapters from the following two textbooks:
Introduction to Data Analytics for Accounting (“DA”), 2e, Richardson, Terrell, Teeter.
Accounting Information Systems (“AIS”), 4e, Richardson, Chang, and Smith.
There are two ways to purchase the textbook.
Option 1: You can purchase the stand-alone Connect access (with access to e-book but NOT hard copy)
at $104.36. On our class’s Brightspace page, click the link to Week 1 Connect assignment, then follow
the on-screen instructions to register. Caveat: the open-book midterm and/or final exams may use an
online proctoring system that will, for the duration of the exam, “lockdown” the student’s computer or
web browser so that it can be used only for the exam page. This means that while you can still refer to
any printed materials including the textbook, you will not have access to the e-book on Connect during
the exam.
Option 2: The bundle version of this custom textbook ($111.48) includes the physical text, digital e-
book, and Connect access for BOTH textbooks. Please purchase it directly from the McGraw Hill website
here. You will receive the loose-leaf book within one week of purchase. In the meantime, you can use the
two-week free trial (“courtesy access”) of Connect. Once your book arrives, use the scrap card to update
your Connect credentials.

McGraw-Hill Connect
Access to Connect is required for this course. All assignments and the midterm exam will be available
through McGraw Hill Connect unless otherwise specified. To access the Connect course web address,
click any week’s Connect homework on Brightspace. Follow the on-screen instructions to register or sign
in. Please register for Connect using your Baruch email only.

Brightspace
Class materials including course announcements, lecture slides and exam information will be available on
Brightspace. You should check the class schedule (provided at the end of this syllabus) before each class
to see the topic and important due dates. Any change of course schedules will be posted to Brightspace
announcements.
Besides appearing on Brightspace, all course announcements will be sent to your email address linked to
Brightspace. Please make sure you check emails regularly to get updates about the course throughout the
semester.

Computer and Internet
A laptop or desktop computer and a reliable Internet connection are required for this course. You will
need the computer to complete all assignments and exams. Windows computers are preferred, as
Macintosh computers cannot run Access and some Excel Add-ons required for some labs. If you decide to
use a Macintosh computer, please install software that will allow you to run Microsoft Office. If all else
