1. 🪧Introduction :-
"The arrival of Europeans in India is an important event in modern Indian history. In 1453 AD
(15th century), after the fall of Constantinople, the Ottoman Turks imposed heavy taxes on
land routes which encouraged Europeans to find new sea routes to India. “Because of this,
Europeans were attracted towards India's strong economy and trade”. After this, the
Portuguese, Dutch, British, Danish, and French came to India. In the beginning, their goal
was trade, but slowly they interfered in Indian politics and became colonial rulers.”

ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿਚ ਯੂਰੋਪੀਅਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗਮਨ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੀ ਇੱ ਕ ਮਹੱ ਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਘਟਨਾ ਹੈ।1453 ਈ: ਵਿਚ
(15ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ) ਕਾਂਸਟੈਂਟੀਨੋਪਲ(constantinople) ਦੇ ਪਤਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ੳਟੋਮਨ ਤੁਰਕ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਰਸਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਟੈਕਸ
ਮਹਿੰ ਗੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱ ਤੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਯੂਰੋਪੀਅਨ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਤੇ ਵਪਾਰ ਵੱ ਲ ਖਿੱ ਚੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ
ਪੁਰਤਗਾਲੀ,ਡੱ ਚ, ਅੰ ਗਰੇਜ਼, ਡੇਨਿਸ਼ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਰਾਂਸੀਸੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਆਏ। ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱ ਚ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਪਾਰ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਹੌਲੀ-ਹੌਲੀ ਉਹ
ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱ ਚ ਦਖਲ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਪਨਿਵੇਸ਼ਕ ਸ਼ਾਸਕ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
2. 📍Meaning/Definition:-
"Advent means arrival (Agman). It refers to the arrival of European traders in India during the
15th–16th centuries. Initially, their main purpose was to trade in spices and other goods.
However, over time, their arrival led to the political influence of European powers and
eventually to the beginning of British rule in India.
ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ:-
Advent ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਆਗਮਨ ।ਇਸ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ 15ਵੀਂ–16ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਵਿੱ ਚ ਯੂਰਪੀ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਆਏ। ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱ ਚ
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱ ਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਮਸਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਸਤੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗਮਨ ਭਾਰਤ

The main reason for the arrival of Europeans in India was trade. For many years, Europeans
had been trading with the Eastern countries through land routes. However, after the fall of
Constantinople in 1453 AD (15th century), the Ottoman Turks imposed heavy taxes on these
trade routes. As a result, European trade became more expensive, encouraging them to
search for an alternative sea route to the East.
