The purpose of this film was to prove to young people that sometimes their families want,
and needs aren’t what theirs will be. It depicts a young girl who is of Chinese culture who learns
to grow into herself instead of being who her mom would like her to be. This article goes
through the culture and dynamics that you see throughout the film.
