My CliftonStrengths assessment ranks my five most dominant themes of talents in
sequential order as Relator, Restorative, Belief, Strategic, and Responsibility.
Al: REFLECTION ON CLIFTONSTRENGTHS
My first strength, a Relator, describes my core leadership strength. This strength
describes me as someone who loves life and people. A relator takes the time to simplify the most
basic or complex matter to others to provide a clear and direct path they can understand. In
essence, it is a thrill and passion for a relator to orchestrate a path of least resistance for others to
achieve their goals. This is a strength because it gives me an adrenalin rush to share my
experience, offer support, and create an action plan. For example, when my niece could not carry
a pregnancy to full term, I helped her address the problem. Thirty years ago, I also experienced
that same problem. Our problem was not that we could not conceive; the problem was our bodies
rejected the pregnancy. So, I had her journal everything she did for 60 days, including eating,
sleeping, exercising, vitamins, how she felt throughout the day, and what made her happy or sad.
In conclusion, just like me, she had to reset her body by doing an entire body cleanse and a ten-
day vacation. As a relator, I was able to share my experience and provide detailed instructions on
what I knew for sure would help, which resulted in us welcoming a healthy 8lbs baby boy into
the world.
My second strength has identified a Restorative. This strength described me as someone who
lives life with a firm set of morale, working feverishly to help everyone get along and constantly
improve on themself to be better. My restorative strength showed up when I recently planned a
high school reunion. I attended an all-girls high school, and many of the ladies had not spoken to
