Cardiac: Coronary Artery Disease “CAD’’

o Coronary artery disease: insufficient perfusion of Coronary artery led to insufficient
oxygen deliver to myocardial muscle.
o Symptom: Chest pain
o Feature of Chest pain show it is related to CAD: Time ( 2 min -10 min stable angina,
10min-30min acute coronary syndrome), radiated to ‘neck, arm, shoulder, low jaw,
tooth’, + shortness of breath, nausea, diaphoresis.
o Common Risk factor Hypertension ‘HTN’.
o Serious Risk Factor Diabetic ‘DM’.
o Control risk factor: Smoking, Hyperlipidemia, HTN, DM.
o Other Risk factor: age, renal disease, Family history of CAD.
o Stop smoking led to decrease factor 50% 1st year, 2nd year 90%.
o Best initial Test EKG.
o Most accurate Test ‘angiography’
o In general Management: 3 Vessel/ Left Main artery or 2 Vessel in DM patient = CABG.
Other better to Mx by angioplasty.
