Week 2 Assignment: Personality Analysis
We hear many times how someone has a certain type of personality, good or bad. Those
with a “good” personality tend to be looked at in a better light than those that are looked at in a
“bad” way. What exactly is personality? According to Carl Jung, personality is compromised of
two things: elements of the conscious and unconscious mind. Unlike Freud, Jung believed they
balanced each other. (Cloninger, 2013) I chose to analyze the personality of Linda Belcher from
the popular adult animated show ”Bob’s Burgers.” Linda is married to the main character, Bob
Belcher and they have three kids together: Tina, Gene, and Louise. She has many great
personality traits. She is a great mom, she loves her kids and fiercely protects them, and
encourages them in whatever they want to do. She is a loving wife and works with her husband
in their restaurant. She is a good sister to Gail and a good friend to many. She’s open-minded
about many diverse issues such as gay rights. She has quite a few downfalls in her personality as
well. She doesn’t think about consequences, she just does what she wants on a whim. She’s
probably not the best person for her kids to look up to. While she is a great mother, she doesn’t
think her actions or decisions through and her kids see this. Her husband is usually left at the
family restaurant by himself while she and the kids are up to no good. She also tries to live
vicariously through her children in some ways. She pushes the family friend, Teddy, to do things
that he isn’t the most comfortable in doing and is relentless until he gives in and does what she
wants him to.
