, Indian Nursing Council (INC)
Indian Nursing Council is a national regulatory body for nurses
and nurse education in India. It is an autonomous body under
the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,
constituted by the Central Government under section 3 of the
Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 of Indian parliament.
The core purpose of this act is to maintain uniform standards of
education for nurses, midwives, and health visitors across the
country.
,Guidelines for Establishment of new School of Nursing and
College of Auxiliary Nurse and Midwives (ANM), General
Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), Basic BSc Nursing, Post Basic
BSc Nursing (PBBSc Nursing), and MSc Nursing.
Any organization under the Central/State Government, Local body or any
other organization registered under the Society Registration Act or
Company incorporated under section 25 of the Companies Act is eligible to
establish the School of Nursing or College of Nursing.
A parent hospital of a minimum of 100 beds is required. However, the
requirement of parent hospital is exempted for institutions located in a
tribal and hilly area.
Indian Nursing Council recognized BSc (N)/PBBSc (N) College of Nursing,
wherein one batch has passed out is eligible to establish PBBSc (N)/MSc. (N)
Program. Any Super Specialty Hospital can also establish MSc (N) program.
, The above organizations shall obtain the Essentiality
Certificate/No Objection Certificate for the respective courses
from the respective State Government and permission from
the respective State Nursing Council.
The Indian Nursing Council, after the receipt of the above
documents/proposal, will conduct the required inspection for
the suitability of the Institution.
The institution will admit the students only after taking the
approval of the Examination Board/University.
