community. The organization is dedicated to offering a compassionate, safe, community-based,
collaborative, and accountable healing environment. Nightingale Community Hospital must
adhere to all Joint Commission communication criteria and performance components to pass the
following survey administered by the Joint Commission (TJC).
NHC has many policies regarding medication management, addressing standards for
medication management safety, warfarin dosing, and medication administration protocols. These
policies are not just documents but tools that guide us in providing the best care for our patients.
The Joint Commission has a specific requirement for what must be in these policies. Deficits
were noted in several of NCH's policies and did not uphold TJC standards in the following areas:
MM.01.01.01, NPSG.03.04.05, and NPSG.03.05.01
When assessing NCH's compliance status, it is evident that there are urgent areas for
improvement that demand our immediate attention. For instance, when reviewing the
MM.01.01.01 regarding Medication management, the JC standard states that the hospital will
have a written policy that outlines the requirements for information needed for medication
distribution from the pharmacy and access availability to staff needed for continuity of care.
These are not just areas for improvement, but urgent action points that need to be addressed. In
