NETWORK MEMBER 1 Name: Rose Hernandez Title: MSN- FNP Organization: None Academic or Professional: Academic Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse: Rose Hernandez has recently graduated from Walden University magna cum laude. She has first-hand experience with Walden University’s expectations and use of resources. She is the reason why I applied to Walden University to being with. She explained the culture and support she received while there, which helped her become a graduate. Rose helped pushed me into starting school now and not to delay. She has encouraged me to start this journey and will provide instrumental advice throughout my educational journey. Notes: NETWORK MEMBER 2 Name: Drew Seelman Title: MSN, BSN, RN, CED, VP of Clinical Operations Organization: None Academic or Professional: Professional Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse: Drew Seelman was previously my director. He was the first to encouraged me to start the journey of becoming a nursing leader. He explained how his master’s program changed his thoughts and made him a better nurse and leader. Drew shared with me what he values in a leader and what he sees in me. He informed me I will be able to shadow him as to see what he has to do on a daily bias, a mentor. This will give allow me to witness situations one must handle as a leader in a nursing profession. He is a valuable resource for me because he is the type of leader I inspire to be. He is someone who leads with passion and encouraged those around him to grow. He is not afraid to help lift others and encourage them to go after their dreams. I know throughout both my nursing and future leadership career, he will there to help guide me. Notes: NETWORK MEMBER 3 Name: Lillian Levesque Title: MSN, RN-BC, Director of Education Organization: None Academic or Professional: Academic Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse: Lillian is currently the Director of Education at my hospital. She has her master’s in education and will be an instrumental resource. Her background as an educator will help guide me down the right path as well as help guide me to appropriate resources. I am sure her knowledge and expertise will only help me grow and learn more throughout my education journey. Also, her background as a leader will help give me further insight into the career I am currently pursuing. Notes: NETWORK MEMBER 4 Name: Amanda Wood Title: MSN, BSN, RN, CNO Organization: None Academic or Professional: Professional Why I selected this individual and/or team and how they will support my success in the MSN program and as a practicing nurse: Amanda Wood is currently the Chief Nursing Officer of my hospital. When I informed her, I was interested in leadership, she encouraged me. Amanda informed me that she anticipates great things from me and hopes one day I can be a leader at our facility, Methodist Texsan. Since I informed her of my curiosities of becoming a nurse leader, she has given me challenges and opportunities to see how leaders operate and how to become a leader. She has allowed me to see what a CNO does on a daily bias. This has helped me gain insight into the day to day challenges and obstacles that come with the responsibilities of leadership. Furthermore, Amanda has given me more tasks and challenges to show more of my leadership skills. She is encouraging me to apply for a director development program Methodist offers. This would further interest me and help give me situations I could potentially manage as a leader. Notes: I am confident that my support system, both academically and professionally, will help me become successful at Walden University. I will also hold great value to my academic support
