depression or an obstruction, such as water, highway, or railway, and having a track or
passageway for carrying traffic or other moving loads and having a length 3 measured
along the center of the structure of more than 20 feet between undercopings of
abutments or extreme ends of openings for multiple boxes. Structure dimensions are
defined as follows:

✔✔bridge length - ✔✔The overall length measured along the line of survey stationing
from back to back of backwalls of abutments, if present, otherwise end to end of the
bridge floor; but, in no case less than the total clear opening of the structure

✔✔bridge width - ✔✔The clear width measured at right angles to the longitudinal
centerline of the bridge between the bottom of curbs, or in the case of multiple height of
curbs, between the bottoms of the lower risers or, if curbs are not used, between inner
faces of parapet or railing

✔✔Change Order. - ✔✔A written order issued by the Department to the Contractor after
execution of the Contract authorizing one or more of the following: 1. Changes in the
Work. 2. Modifications in the basis of payment. 3. Modifications to Contract Time.

✔✔Commercially Useful Function - ✔✔Occurrences in which the subcontractor is
responsible for the execution of a distinct element of the work of a contract and carrying
out its responsibilities by actually performing, managing, and supervising the work
involved, and with respect to materials and supplies used on the contract, prepares the
estimate, negotiates price, determines quality and quantity, orders the material,
arranges delivery, installs (where applicable), and pays for the material and supplies
itself for the project.
