Personality: “an individuals’ characteristic pattern of thought, emotion, and behaviour” (funder)
- Characteristic = each person’s personality is unique
- Pattern= a person’s personality is mostly the same over time and across situations

- In the 1930s, Allport and odbert went through the dictionary and wrote down each
personality trait they found 18,857 traits
- Researchers have been able to narrow the list down to 5 dimensions
- According to the person job theory, there is no one best personality. It depends on the job
- Person-job fit: the degree of congruence between the characteristics` of a persons ( e.g
personality) and the characteristics of a job ( e.g duties and responsibilities).
