Art. 38 Statuut IGH — 4 bronnen:
1. Verdragen (tractaten): schriftelijke overeenkomsten tussen staten
→ Bilateraal (2 staten) of multilateraal (meerdere)
→ Weens Verdragenverdrag (1969): regels OVER verdragen!


2. Internationaal gewoonterecht: ongeschreven, algemene praktijk
→ 2 vereisten: statenpraktijk + opinio juris (rechtovertuiging)
→ Bijv: diplomatieke onschendbaarheid, verbod genocide


3. Algemene rechtsbeginselen: gedeeld door "beschaafde naties"

4. Rechtspraak + doctrine: hulpbronnen (niet bindend!)

Hiërarchie:
