Explain and analyse three factions of the democratic party (9)

One democratic fashion within the democratic party is the congressional progressive caucus
who are considered more left and progressive. They have just under 100 members, with 96
in the House and one in the Senate, including Bernie Sanders and AOC, who are significant
political figures in the media. The faction strongly believes in Medicaid for all and free tuition,
which many in the US feel is too far left. Their significance has surged, especially with young
and ethnic minorities; however, they have never won a presidential election, as they are
commonly viewed as socialist.

Another democratic faction is the new democratic coalition, which is seen as the moderate
wing of the party. They are the largest faction in the Democrats with 115 members, including
Bill and Hilary clinton and Joe Biden. This faction strongly believes in creating a middle
ground; for example, making tuition fees affordable instead of free; similarly, they are a
strong advocate for racial and LGBTQ rights justice. This is the most significant faction, as
they are the largest, including presidential figures, and therefore have the most influence
over policy.

Lastly, the Blue Dog Coalition is seen as the conservative wing of the democrats. They are
the smallest group with only 26 members and are constantly aligning themselves with the
republicans. Despite being a small faction, they wield a significant amount of influence as
they are seen as a swing vote in Congress. Many, like Manchin, have opposed Obamacare
and have high NRA ratings. Since 2010, their membership has halted; however, they are still
very impactful, as in 2022 they influenced the creation of the Investment Reduction Act to
allow Biden to pass the IIJA to improve infrastructure and help people after COVID.
