Um, I'm 49 years old. I am retired from AT&T. I was a sergeant in
the marine corp and served the time in Somalia and Desert Storm.
I am divorced with no children. I like to drive fast and I like music
and have a good time.

Um, my goals are to talk better, communicate more so that I can
go back to work.

I've had to have speech therapy and physical therapy for my right
leg.

What type of strategies were done in speech therapy? What did
you work on? Explain what you did in speech therapy before?
Um, we focus a lot in speech therapy we focus a lot on swallowing.
Trying to learn how to swallow, um especially swallowing without
stuff falling out of my mouth. Focus on the neck muscles and trying
to be able to move my neck around more. And um also learning
how to say certain words and certain letters, and certain sounds.
Because without a tongue there are certain words that you simply
cannot say. You have to think fast on your feet to try to think of
another word in place of the word you want to say. It's more or
less a huge challenge.
