1. Key Findings
This Section, A1 was compiled using information found on the United States Census
Bureau website (United States Census Bureau, n.d.) and the County Health Rankings and
Roadmaps website (County Health Rankings and Roadmaps, n.d.).
• Most of the population in the county is White at 79.0%. The national average is
76.3%.
• The high school graduation percentage in the county is 92.0%. This is higher than
the national average of 88.5%.
• Sexually transmitted infections are a serious health concern occurring at a rate of
675.9 individuals per 100,000.
• Alcohol-impaired driving deaths in the county occurred at a rate of 23%
• Uninsured adults make up about 8.3% of the county population which is slightly
better than 10.2% nationally.

2. Introductory Paragraph
Section A2 of the data brief was compiled by using data from the United States
Census Bureau (United States Census Bureau, n.d.). For my population health data brief
project, I chose Multnomah County, Oregon which is in the northwest portion of the state
(United States Department of Agriculture, 2017). In my research for this county, I found
that compared to the national average of 87.4 people per square mile Multnomah County
is densely populated at 1704.9 people per square mile. Most of the population is white or
not Hispanic with 79.0% of the population falling into this category. Diversity could be
improved as only 6% of the population is Black or African American and 12% of the
population is Hispanic or Latino which nationally is 13.4% and 18.5% respectively. Most
people speak English in their homes and have a high school degree or higher.
