ABOUT THIS STUDY GUIDE
This study guide is an original educational work produced by WizMedTech. It was created by independently studying
foundational medical-surgical nursing course material, distilling the core concepts, and rebuilding them into a new resource with
original explanations, organization, tables, analogies, mnemonics, and practice questions. It is not a copy or reproduction of any
textbook, lecture handout, or proprietary course document, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any
university, nursing program, the NCLEX®, or the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN®).

MEDICAL & EDUCATIONAL DISCLAIMER — PLEASE READ
This guide is intended for educational and exam-preparation purposes only. It is a study aid — not a clinical reference,
prescribing guide, or substitute for your textbook, course faculty, institutional protocols, or the advice of a licensed healthcare
professional. Drug names, dosing concepts, and lab values are included for learning and may change as guidelines evolve;
always verify against current, authoritative sources and your facility's policies before applying anything in practice. Nothing in this
guide should be used to diagnose, treat, or manage an actual patient.

STANDARDIZED REFERENCE RANGES
Laboratory values and screening ages reflect commonly taught ranges and major-society guidance as of publication. Reference
intervals vary by laboratory and source; the values here are for study recognition, not clinical decision-making.

· How to Use This Ebook
This guide is built like a high-performing student's personal notebook: every concept is rewritten in plain
language, organized into the way the material actually shows up on exams, and reinforced with memory
tools and question practice. Here is how to get the most out of it.

The colored boxes — and what each one means
As you read, you'll meet a recurring cast of callout boxes. Learn them now so you can scan for what you
need.

Box What it gives you

High-Yield The facts most likely to be tested. If you're short on time, read these first.

Must Know Non-negotiable core knowledge — the load-bearing concept of a topic.

Exam Trap The exact place students lose points. A classic distractor or "looks right but isn't."

Clinical Connection How the concept plays out at the bedside, so it sticks in long-term memory.

Memory Shortcut A mnemonic, acronym, or mental hook to lock the fact in fast.

Common Mistake A frequent point of confusion, untangled before it costs you.

A study sequence that works
1. Skim the unit divider and objectives to prime your brain for what's coming.
2. Read the section once for understanding — don't highlight yet, just follow the logic.
3. Go back and harvest the boxes and tables — these are your condensed study sheet.
4. Cover the Quick Review and recite it from memory before moving on.
5. After finishing the units, drill the NCLEX bank at the back, then read every rationale — even for
questions you got right.
6. The night before the exam, read only the Final Rapid Review. It's your whole semester on a few
pages.

CLINICAL CONNECTION

Nursing exams reward priority thinking, not memorization alone. As you study, keep asking: "Of
everything true here, what would the nurse do first, and why?" That single habit is what separates a
pass from a high pass.
