Describe the role of organizational development in contemporary organizations. How does organizational development help organizations prepare for or implement change? Provide an example from your organization. Organizational development is an effort planned, organization-wide, and managed from the top in order to increase the organization’s effectiveness and health through planned interventions in the organization’s processes, using behavioral-science knowledge (McNamara, n.d.). Organizational development is important to the success of any business because it influences every aspect of the decision-making process. An organization that is effective can increase employee morale because workers feel empowered and valued when the company is well structured. Organizational development helps in solving problems within an organization and how the organization analyzes a process to be more efficient (Quain, 2018). In order to implement change, organizational development identifies areas that need change, promotes and manages growth, helps product innovation, and analyzes work processes. My organization serves a great representation of organizational development. First off, the organization obtain information or metrics to identify the areas where change is needed. The senior leaders then decide what needs attention and delegate projects to the directors and managers. An example is decreasing length of stay in the hospital. To resolve this issue, research was done to analyze each aspect of the process and then a decision was made on working on each component.
