, What Is a Sensor?
A sensor does exactly what its name implies — it senses the physical world.
More specifically, it measures a physical quantity and converts that
measurement into a digital representation.
This digital signal is then passed to another device — a microcontroller,
gateway, or cloud service — where it is transformed into useful, actionable
data that intelligent systems or humans can consume and act upon.
Sensors are the eyes, ears, and skin of any IoT system.
