1.Families:
Christian beliefs about families:
God designed humans to live in families.
Families are important to God according to the Bible.
The Church, a universal body of believers, is called a family.
When we receive God’s spirit at salvation, we are adopted into His family.
Types of families:
Nuclear family- Two parents and one or more children living together under the same roof.
Extended family- A number of adults and children who are related living together in the same
household and sharing family duties.
Reconstituted families- Some divorced adults choose to remarry. This leads to a mix of step-parents and
step-children.
Single parent family- Where one parent raises their children alone.
Childless family- A family that don’t have children, sometimes out of choice and other times they cannot
conceive.
Practices by families in religion:
Christian families go to Church together.
Christian- Baptism and Confirmation.
Christian and Jews- Pray.
Christian and Jews- Teach children about history of religion.
Christian and Jews- teach children how to read sacred texts.
Christian and Jews- Celebrate religious festivals together.
Jews- Brit Milah, Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah.
Jews- take children to the Synagogue.
Jews- Spend Sabbath together.
