Dental Hygienists Responsibilities (11ct) 1. Possess a proper license and resgistration, comply with all laws and work
withing your scope of practice
2. Exercise reasonable skill, care, and judgement in the assessment,
diagnoses and treatment of patients
3. use standard drugs, materials and techniques
4. complete treatment in a reasonable amount of time
5. charge reasonable fees
6. never abandon a pt. and arrange for care during absence
7. refer to a specialist as needed
8. maintain privacy and confidentiality
9. keep accurate records
10. give adequate instructions to the pt
11. maintain a level of knowledge and practice within the code of ethics
General Supervision requirements DDS not required to be present in the tx. facility
RDH Functions- Oral prophylaxix preventative and therapeutic dental procedures including bacterial
debridement, supra/subgingival scaling, removal of soft deposits, plaque,
and stains and the smoothing of tooth surfaces to create an environment in
which the patient can maintain health hard and soft tissues
Direct supervision requirements DDS is required to be physically present in the tx. facility
Can an RDH perform RDA duties? Yes, if licensed BEFORE 1/1/2006
