2.1 SCHAAL
• Groo]e: ± 25 nm (kleinste) tot ± 400 nm (grootste)
• Niet zichtbaar met lichtmicroscoop
o meestal elektronenmicroscoop nodig
o uitzonderlijk: grootste virussen zichtbaar met fasecontrast à Mimivirus (± 400 nm)
• ultrafiltreerbar
• Vergelijking: E. coli: ± 1,5 µm (= 1500 nm) → veel groter dan virussen
