AGES PUBLISHING COMPANY
1. Terms of Reference
On 29 March 2015, Ms J Zimm, Chief Editor, requested Ms A van Rhyn, Chief
Operations Officer to investigate into the possibility of publishing manuscripts in local
indigenous languages at Pages for Ages Publishing Company. The full report,
including a recommendation to be submitted to the Executive Committee by 30 April
2015.
2. Procedures
The procedures followed to obtain the information contained in this report include:
2.1. Comparisons of financial information was obtained, comparing the annual income
of publishing companies that publish in indigenous language and those that
do not. (See attached financial statements – Addendum A)
2.2. Interviews were conducted with members of the Pages for Ages editing team to
establish whether or not they would be willing to publish in indigenous
languages. (See attached interview schedule – Addendum B)
2.3. Questionnaires were sent to members of the public to identify the demand and
need for manuscripts published in indigenous languages. (See attached
questionnaire – Addendum C)
2.4. Operational problems identified within the Pages for Ages publishing company
were discussed with management.
