Indications for assist-control (A-C)
Give this one a try later!
-the ventilator delivers a preset tidal volume at a preset rate of respirations
-every breath has the same tidal volume whether if the machine or the
patient initiates it
Identify the function of the following 3 components of blood and what may be
indicated by an abnormal number.
Erythrocytes (red blood cells)
Leukocytes (white blood cells)
Platelets (Thrombocytes)
Give this one a try later!
, -High RBCs: Dehydration. Heart disease. Polycythemia vera, a bone marrow
disease
-Low RBCs: Anemia. Leukemia, Malnutrition, blood loss
-High WBCs: infection, inflammation, injury and immune system disorders
-Low WBCs: lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, vitamin deficiencies, or a side effect
of cancer treatment
-High Platelets: internal bleeding, infection
-Low Platelets: immune disorder, cancer treatment, medications
- transtracheal
Give this one a try later!
-Nursing considerations: long term method of receiving O2
-How to measure effectiveness: measure O2 sat
-Percentage: less than 6L/minute
13). IV gamma-globulin
Give this one a try later!
-Compositions: immunoglobulin G antibodies
-Indications/ Considerations: Hypogammaglobulinemia (In CLL, recurrent
infections); ITP; primary immunodeficiency states
12). Albumin
Give this one a try later!
, -Compositions: albumin 5%, 25%
-Indications/ Considerations: Hypoproteinemia; burns; volume expansion
by 5% to increase blood volume;25% leads to decreased hematocrit
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Give this one a try later!
-Therapeutic effect: anticoagulant, to prevent and treat thromboembolism,
pulmonary embolism and embolism related to atrial fibrillation, also used
adjunct in the treatment of coronary occlusion, Cerbral transient ischemia
(TIA), and as a prophylactic in patients with artificial cardiac valves
-Side effects: bleeding
-Nursing considerations: To insure the correct dose, check lab values: PT
and INR. PT (prothrombin time) should be 1-1.5 x control. INR should be 2.0-
3.0
Indications for SIMV
Give this one a try later!
-Decreases Airway Pressures
-can provide full or partial respiratory support
-when the machine senses that the patient will breathe on their own, it
won't give them assistance
3). administration technique
