TYE
• If the verb is a “is” = EG Die eksamens is maklik.
• Past = Die eksamens was maklik.
• Future = Die eksamens sal maklik wees.
• If the verb is a “het” = EG Ek het ’n mooi huis.
• Past = Ek het ’n mooi huis gehad.
• Future = Ek sal ’n mooi huis hê.
• If there are two verbs = EG Die man sit en lees op die stoep.
• Simultaneously = Die man het op die stoep gesit en lees.
• Non simultaneously = Die man het op die stoep gesit en gelees.
• DAWN rule
Wanneer = toe… ge(verb) het
As = toe… ge(verb) het
Nou = toe het … ge(verb)
Dan = toe het… ge(verb)
• If there is a conjunction in the sentence = treat it like 2 sentances
EG Die bokkie hardloop weg, want die leeu jaag hom
• Past = Die bokkie het weggehardloop, want die leeu het hom gejaag.
• Future = Die bokkie sal weghardloop, want die leeu sal hom jaag.
VOEGWOORDE
Groep 1 = No word order change. Commas are always used/
(En, Maar, want, dog, of)
Groep 2 = Verb in sentence 2 goes straight after the conjunction, semi-colons are used before the
conjunction.
(All words starting with “d”, except “dog en dat”)
Groep 3 = Verb in sentence 2 goes to the end of the sentence, no commas.
(All words ending in “dat” or “wat”,question words, and relative pronouns)
• If there is a helping verb (moet, wil, kan, sol, gaan, mag), it goes just before the verb at the end of
the sentence.
• If you start a sentence with a G3 conjunction, both verbs go to the middle, and separate them with
a comma.
• If you start the sentence with G2 “al”, the verb goes immediately after.
• If there is a “nie” in the second sentance, it must go to the end, after the verb.
