EVALUATION:
In this task, I will discuss and reflect on the role that I practice from being an interviewer and an
interviewee, and I would be receiving feedback from my peers and teacher. I also need to
explain how I could improve my interviewer and explain the impact my preparation had on the
effectiveness of the interview and how it helps me succeed.
Reflection on your role as the interviewer
I believe that many things went well as an interviewer, as I think I conducted it to the best of my
ability. One of the few things I think went well was that I made the interviewee feel comfortable
and relaxed, which helped them answer the best of their ability. I also managed to interact with
the interviewee personally, which helped me get to know them a bit more.
What could you have done better?
I think that the questions put forward could have been more related to their previous experience.
This would have helped me gather more information on his previous job role and his
experience. I could have asked about the candidate's CV and application form. I could have
done better because I didn't make eye contact when I talked to the interviewee, which may
show that I'm under pressure. If I had made eye contact, it shows that when I communicate with
the person, I'm confident and believe in my perspective because he is more likely to buy the
message I'm sending.
What impact did your preparation have on the effectiveness of the interview?
Having the document pack helped me prepare for the questions I was going to ask. The
documents were job description and person specification. These documents enabled me to ask
the correct questions and relate them to that specific role. The job description helped me
analyse what type of job role the candidate would be taking up. The person specification helped
me analyse what type of skills and experience the candidate needed to fill the job role to their
fullest potential.
What contribution did the interview documentation make to the process?
The interview docs played a huge role in the process as it allowed potential candidates to see
what type of job role they would be doing and the responsibilities they would be facing. This
would come under the job description as this would make candidates aware of the job role and
possibly help reduce the number of applicants. Another document in the interview pack was the
person specification. This also contributed to the process as it included the skills and experience
the candidate needs to have in order to be considered. This would help narrow down the
number of applicants applying as applicants would immediately be aware of what they need to
have, and if they don't, they will not bother applying.
, What went well?
As an interviewee, I believe that I conducted myself well and answered the questions to the best
of my ability. I came into the interview prepared and managed to answer the questions to the
best of my ability. I greeted and talked to the interviewer before the interview started on google
meet.
What could you have done better?
One thing I could have corrected was the pauses I took whilst answering the questions.
Although I knew what I wanted to say, pausing could have made it look like I felt nervous or
possibly unprepared. I think that I should have cut down on the pauses and just feel more
confident in myself. Also, I think I should have asked more questions about the job role and
what it's like at ASDA daily.
What impact did your preparation have on the effectiveness of the interview?
The preparation beforehand helped the effectiveness of the interview as it allowed me to focus
on what questions could come up. Being prepared is crucial as the interviewer would tell if you
are or not. The preparation I did was think of questions related to the job role and research
about the company. I did this because it would show the interviewer that I care about the job
and show that l conduct myself well and am an organised person.
What contribution did the interview documentation make to the process?
The docs contributed to the process as the job description allowed me to see what type of job
role I will potentially be taking up, as it helped make expectations clear for me. The job
description also states the responsibilities I would be having and allows me to indicate what I
will be doing. The person specification was also part of the interview pack. It helped me identify
what skills I needed to perform the job role and understand what previous experience I needed
to be considered. It also shows what qualifications I need to have a chance of receiving the role.
Evaluation of documents by reviewer:
Job description:
The reviewer provided me with some strengths and weaknesses. They said as a strength, the
necessary information about the job e.g. wage, location, job role. This tells me that the reviewer
found it easy to locate and access information in the text. As a weakness, they said there was
too much detail which may have made the description hard to read. They also said and
described how useful it was. They said there was lots of crucial information and was in an easy
to read format. To improve, they also said to try and shorten some points as some points are
over detailed.
Person Specification:
The reviewer provided me with some strengths and weaknesses. They said as a strength, there
was lots of detail and provided exactly the requirement and what the job needs. This makes it
easy for the candidate to access critical info. Therefore, they can compare themselves towards
what the employer wants. There was no highlighted weakness. However, I think there should
