Introduction
Digital media is essentially changing the communication systems, interactions,
consumptions, and collaborations. It provides individuals and companies with a great platform to
interact with others and also for business purposes. Over the past few years, it has revolutionized
how people perceive and operate in daily activities (Menesini & Nocentini, 2009). It scrutinizes
the understanding of its implications in various composite ways. However, despite its implicit
impacts, people have been abused through the platform, which has contributed to most of the
current social problems affecting the current generations. Demographics has shown how it has
negatively affected young people's lives and promotes various social deviance behaviors among
its majority users. Framing the relationship between young people demographics and social
media, we will understand the existing relationship formed within the digital culture. It has
increased the number of social problems in large numbers for users across the globe. This has
been proven by literature that focused on understanding how digital media represents social
problems (Menesini & Nocentini, 2009). Therefore, this paper will explore how digital media
has contributed to social problems using Amanda Todd's sextortion cyberbullying and the
reactions towards this that improved life of many victims of cyberbullying.
Literature Review
Cyberbullying is a social media problem that has existed for decades now. The nature of
emerging technologies has continuously manifested how the internet had affected young people.
Amanda Todd, a teenager who committed suicide after her unending story about sextortion from
her peers' digital media. Children are inherently exploring the digital world, which mainly
contributed to what affected Amanda. Scholars argue that Amanda never had the idea of what
happens in internet interactions. Amanda's webcam identity was "cutiilover" and attracted more
