MSNC 510 – Advanced Nursing Technologies & Collaborative Care
The rapid evolution of HIT has fundamentally transformed healthcare, particularly through the recent integration of AI to deliver data-driven, individualized patient care. Advanced practice nurses (APNs) are essential to this transition, offering a unique dual perspective that balances granular patient needs with broader systems-level insights. In their role, APNs safeguard patient autonomy by ensuring that AI and HIT implementations strictly adhere to HIPAA and privacy standards. Furthermore, they provide a vital first-person account of how these technologies impact organizational efficiency. By applying the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model, APNs can translate raw clinical data into collaborative, iterative solutions (McBride, 2022). When combined with AI, this model enhances learning in specialized fields like genomic research, preventive medicine, and robotic-assisted surgery. However, the success of these innovations ultimately depends on robust policy frameworks, specifically those addressing budgeting, regulatory compliance, and staff preparedness to ensure a seamless transition into the future of care. Furthermore, like many other healthcare workers, a common shared wish is the eradication of chronic illnesses that currently have no cure. This includes conditions like Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis (MS), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), cystic fibrosis, AIDS, arthritis, diabetes, and aggressive forms of cancer. Innovative technology and the integration of AI have the potential to find cures for these illnesses to improve quality of life worldwide. Clinical practice would change significantly by decreasing the time patients spend hospitalized with
